HISTORY: THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME,

Art. 2°.-"the religion of grace spread across the Earth and finally reached the Russian people. The gracious God who cared for all the other peoples no longer in the neglected. It is his desire to save us and lead us to reason "(Hilarião, Metropolitan of Russia, 1051-1054).

Saints Cyril and Methodius

The Saints Brothers Constantine and Methodius were born in the town of Solum (Slavic) or Thessaloniki (Greek), in Macedonia, which at that time was under the Dominion of the Eastern Roman Empire. His father was Governor Greek and his mother was Slavic, so they dominated the two languages: official language-Greek and Slavic-Iíngua of the people.

The Saints Brothers desiring to enlighten his people with the doctrine of the Gospel of Jesus Christ decided to translate it into the Slavic language. News about the translation of the Holy Scriptures in Slavic language came to rulers of Khazaria, which decided to invite the brothers to do the Mission in the Empire among the Slavs. The brothers accepted the proposal and traveled to the city of Quersones in Criméa. There came into contact with Christians that existed since Apostolic times. Christians reported to the brothers about the Slavs of the tribes "ross" subjects of cosaros, its language, writing and books written in your language. The brothers came into contact with them and found a man that he could read and write in that language. He showed the sacred books and taught them this language. The brothers understood that she was very similar to the Macedonian language, but it was difficult to write and read. Decided to bring this written on Greek and Latin letters which took many characters of sounds that existed in ancient Russian-Slavic language and the character of old were adopted or created new ones. These characters are called: Cyrillic and come from the name Cyril (Constantine). With few modifications these characters are used in Slavic languages: Bulgarian, Belarusian, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian. In addition to the Slavic languages use Cyrillic characters: languages azerbaidjana, cabardina, casaquistana, Sakha, Moldavian, nenena, ossetina (osséta), quirguiza, tchuvashes, turcmena, udmurtana and uzbeca.

The Mission in Khazaria was held in the years 855-861 and there is opinion that this mission would be linked to the baptism of Kiev Princes of Russ and Ascold Dyr. After the mission Khazar brothers were called by Prince Rostyslav (846-870) from Great Moravia to preach Christianity in its State in the official language was German, not that the people did not understand, because at that time the region was under the influence of the Germanic Empire. This mission took place in the years 863-867 with great success. But the brothers were accused by the German hierarchy and called to Rome to clarify about the using of the Slavic language, since at that time the languages considered were sacred Hebrew, Greek and Latin. In Rome were between 868-870. Cyril entered the monastery and died on 14 February 869. Methodius was consecrated in 870 to Archbishop of Pannónia and Moravia with permission to preach in the Slavic language and practise the Slavic rite. But when it came to Pannónia was arrested. Only in the year 874 was released by the intervention of Pope John VIII (872-882). After his release he moved to Moravia where preached Christianity until his death in April 06.885

After the death of Methodius and of Pope Adrian III (884-885), the disciples of Cyril and Methodius were expelled from Moravia. Leaving Moravia spread by all Slavic lands preaching the holy Gospel in Slavic language and practicing the Slavic Rite.

§ Single – "the doctrine should be presented in a way that make it comprehensible to those to whom God himself to its intended use. Saints Cyril and Methodius dedicated themselves to translate biblical notions and concepts of Greek theology in the context of a thought and historical experiences very different. They wanted the only word of God were "made so accessible in accordance with the means specific to each civilization". Understood so that they could not "impose on people who should preach, nor the unquestionable superiority of Greek and Byzantine culture, nor the uses and the more advanced behaviors that society had been formed. Put into practice ' the perfect communion in love [that] preserves the Church of all forms of particularism and ethnic or racial exclusiveness, as well as of any nationalist arrogance '.

Cyril, to die, prayed thus:

' Lord God, does grow your church and brings together all the men in the unit; establishes your elected in harmony of true faith and straight in his confession; does penetrate your words in your heart, so that if you devote to what is good and te is nice.»

HISTORY OF TRUE ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS - TOC

The growing number of churches and cults of all kinds makes it difficult for some, the question of which one is the true church. Would tell, some believe that the Original Apostolic Church was divided over time and that churches today have only traces of its original spiritual wealth, fragments of grace and truth. This way of thinking about the church, some say there is a chance to rebuild from Christian societies, existing agreements and through reciprocal concessions. This view is rooted in the ecumenical movement, which does not recognize as valid any churches today. Could be that others think that the True Church has nothing in common with the official churches, but were isolated individuals who believe that officially belong to various religious groups. The latter view was expressed in the teaching of the "invisible Church" which is being expressed by Protestant theologians today. Finally, for many Christians is the question: Is it really necessary, the Church, if man is saved by his own faith?

All these points of view and fundamentally wrong, misunderstanding arising from the central truth of Christ's teaching - the salvation of man. Reading of the Gospels and the letters of the apostles who clearly understand the mind of Christ is to bring men to their salvation and not dispersed individually, but together to create a kingdom in common, unique, full of grace. We know that the kingdom of evil, led by the prince of darkness, working together in their fight against the Church as she recalled the Saviour, saying, "If Satan drives out Satan himself, he is divided against himself: how, therefore, its kingdom will survive "(Matthew 12:26).
However, despite all the nuances of the current view of the Church, most well-intentioned Christians admit that at the time of the apostles, was not the True Church of Christ as the only community of men who were being saved. The book of Acts tells us about the emergence of the Church in Jerusalem, where 50 days after the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles in the form of tongues of fire. From that day on the Christian faith began to spread rapidly in all parts of the vast Roman Empire. How spread out in cities and towns, there are communities which were the first churches. In everyday life, and because of the huge distances, these companies were listed separately, but were members of the body of one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, being united by a faith and a source of sanctification being received from the divine sacraments (baptism , communion, or ordering the imposition of hands). In principle, these acts were performed by the holy apostles.
But then came the need for auxiliary, and the apostles chose among members of the Christian communities of worthy candidates to be ordained as bishops, priests and deacons.(This was the way the apostle Paul told the bishops as Timothy and Titus). The apostles were charged with the bishops to monitor the purity of the doctrine of Christian faith, life of devotion and the power to ordain new priests and deacons. Thus, during the early centuries has grown steadily and expanded in all countries, enriching his spiritual experience through religious literature, songs and prayers for divine service, and then the architecture of temples and sacred art, always keeping the essence of the True Church of Christ.
The Gospels and the Epistles of the Apostles not appear immediately and at the same time. For many decades after the establishment of the Church, Scripture does not constitute a source of teachings. The source of oral tradition, so named by the Apostles themselves were the sole basis of religious teaching (1 Corinthians 11: 16, 15:2, 2 Thes. 3:6 and 2:15, 1 Tim. 6:20). The Church has the weight of the criterion, if in doubt, to decide who was right and who was not. In cases where there has been something that did not correspond to the apostolic tradition, whether in matters of faith, practice and administration of the sacraments, was rejected as incorrect.
Following the apostolic tradition, the bishops of the early Christian centuries have controlled all the manuscripts with all possible care and gradually compiled the Acts of the Apostles, the Gospel and Epistles, bringing together all in one set that had the name of Scripture New Testament, which together with Old Testament Scripture was formed in the Bible in its current form. This compilation process was completed in the third century after Christ. Books that did not coincide completely with the apostolic tradition were rejected as incorrect and were called the Apocrypha. Thus, the apostolic tradition had the decisive voice in the formation of the New Testament scriptures, written in this treasure of the Church. Christians of all denominations use the New Testament Scriptures, often without due regard, without realizing that the Scriptures are the property of the True Christian Church, a treasure recompiled it, carefully, with great thoroughness.

Thanks to the other pillars of writing to us, we know of other valuable information written by the disciples of the apostles, about life and faith of Christian communities in the early centuries of the Christian era. At that time, the belief in the existence of an Apostolic Church was widespread. Of course, then the Church had its "visible hand" in the sacred liturgy and other trades to their bishops and priests, prayers and hymns, laws (rules Apostolic) regulating relations between the various churches in all forms of life Christian communities. Therefore, we must admit that the teaching of the Church Invisible is a new teaching and incorrect. In accepting the existence of the True Church, One and Holy, in the early centuries of Christianity, we find the time it was divided and that no longer exists? The honest answer to that question is no. The truth is that deviations from the teachings of the apostles, heresy, have begun to emerge even at the time of the Apostles.
Particularly active, said the teachings of the Gnostics, who added that the teachings of Christian philosophy pagan elements. In his epistles, the apostles to keep Christians and directly said that followers of these sects had been separated from the Church. The apostles considered dead branches that had separated from the tree of the Church. Similarly, the successors of the apostles, the bishops of the early centuries, did not recognize the deviation from the true faith shown in his time, and separated from the Church for followers of the same sow strife, after the Apostle's words: "Furthermore, if we or an angel from heaven to announce - you a gospel different from what you have been announced, let him be accursed "(ie, it is rejected, Galatians 1:8-9).
Thus, in the early centuries of Christianity was clear that the church is a spiritual family, which since the days of the Apostles received true teachings of the only sacraments and the uninterrupted transmission of the sacraments which passes from Bishop to Bishop. For followers of the Apostles, there was no doubt that the Church is absolutely essential and indispensable to salvation. It preserves and proclaims the true teaching of Christ, sanctify those who believe and lead to salvation. Using the words of Scripture in the first centuries of Christianity, the Church was conceived as "sheep's clothing" when Christ, the Good Shepherd protects his flock "is the wolf," ie the devil. The church is also compared with a vine whose branches provide the forces necessary for the faithful Christian life and good works. The church was understood as the Body of Christ, each believer should exercise his service a whole. The church is represented as the Ark of Noah, who was faithful to the crossing of the sea of life and entered the "safe harbor" of the Heavenly Kingdom. Likewise, comparing the church with a mountain that rises above the human error and takes travelers to the sky, the community with God, angels and saints.
In the early centuries of Christianity, believing in Christ meant to believe that the work he had done in earth, in ways that He gave believers for salvation can not be lost or torn by the efforts of the devil. Both the Old Testament prophets as the Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles, clearly showed the continued existence of the Church until the final year of existence in the world. "In the days of these kings the God of heaven will bring up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and the kingdom will not go to other people. Pulverize and consume all these kingdoms, and it will remain forever," and thus has prophesied to the Angel prophet Daniel (Daniel 2:44). The Lord promised the apostle Peter: "And I, for my part I say unto thee that thou art Peter and upon this rock (of faith and prophecy) I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16 : 18).
And we, likewise, if we believe in the promise of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we must recognize the existence of His Church in our time, and until the end of the world. So far, not said where this church is true, but simply lays out the basic idea: The True Church must be present in his holy, fair and true nature. Being divided, wounded, hides can not exist as a true Church.
So where is the True Church? How to find it among the currently existing Christian communities?
Promptly, the True Church must contain complete and pure Christian teaching, as announced by the apostles of Jesus Christ. The goal of reaching the land of the Son of God was to bring the truth to earth, as he announced before suffering on the cross: "I am born for this and for this I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Whoever What is the truth hears my voice "(John 18:37). "The apostle Paul, when instructing his disciple Timothy that in order to perform its duties as a bishop, he wrote, concluding:" But if I tarry, so you will know how to proceed in the house of God, which is the Church of the Living God, pillar and bulwark of Truth "(1 Tim 3:15).
We must acknowledge with regret that the problem of Christian teaching, we see large differences between the current Christian community. Basically, we must recognize that not everyone can teach properly. If a church, for example, states that the communion is the body and blood of Christ and the other denies it is impossible that both are true. Thus, if a church believes in the reality of the spiritual power of the sign of the cross and the other denies it is clear that one of the two is about misconceptions and misunderstandings. The True Christian Church should be one that has no doctrinal differences with the Church of the early centuries of the Christian era. If one compares, impartially, the teachings of the present Christian churches have come to the conclusion that only the True Orthodox Church of the True Christian is by faith perfect and complete the Ancient Church of the Apostles.
Another sign, according to which one can find true Christian church is the Grace or Divine Force by which the Church is called to strengthen and sanctify the faithful. Although Grace is an invisible force, there is an actual external condition, which can be evaluated for the presence or absence of grace is the continuity of the apostolic tradition. From the time of the Apostles were given the grace to the faithful Christians, through sacraments of baptism, communion, laying on of hands (anointing of oils and consecration) and others. In the beginning, the directors of these sacraments were the Apostles (Acts 8:14-17) and later, the bishops and priests (priests distinguishable from bishops for not having the power of consecration the priests). The right to perform these sacraments had been transferred exclusively through the succession of the apostolic tradition - the Apostles consecrated bishops, and only these bishops could devote to other bishops, priests and deacons. APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION resembles a sacred flame with a candle that lights the others. If the flame goes out, goes out and the chain of Apostolic Succession breaks, interrupting no more priests, no sacraments, or means to sanctify the faithful Christians. That is why since the time of the apostles, was followed by observing and monitoring the preservation of Apostolic Succession: a bishop should be consecrated, necessarily, another bishop with a true helper, also bishop, whose consecration amounts without interruption, up until the time of the Apostles of Jesus Christ. The bishops who had fallen into heresy or led a life unworthy were deposed and lost the right to administer sacraments or devotion to help the other successors.

The Orthodox faith teaches that life must be built on the principle of Christian love. "Just know - said Jesus Christ - that you are my disciples, if ye have love among yourselves."In private life, Orthodoxy invites the man to avoid sin, to live according to God's commandments and moral perfection.
Our faith in God should not be abstract and theoretical, because faith without works is dead faith. We recognize the enormous power of prayer, which must occupy an important position in our lives. We fervently pray to the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints and the early adopters and intercessors with God. The Church invites us to take care of family and well-being of the nation, trying to improve the power received from God, to inculcate the same humility, the aversion to greed, and compassion. We should all forgive and not judge anyone. We must develop a tendency to seek eternal life.

Throughout his earthly journey, the Church of Christ, now growing in numbers, sometimes fell into decline. There were periods when his enemies were singing victory, hoping that they were his last days. But by the power of Christ Church was recovering, as it were lifted from the dust, while his enemies died. Christ promised to His true Church to be invincible until the end of the world. One must remember that as children of the True Orthodox Church participated in the great world organization. In reality, no country or society greater than the True Orthodox Christian Church, because she not only owns the Orthodox faithful living on earth, but all people who have gone directly to the other world, born into the Kingdom of Heaven. Indeed, the Church in its heavenly existence - Land grows continuously and becomes ever stronger. Staying within the True Church, like a large mother ship, we are in danger of not wreck trip.
We are strong in our faith in God, the Creator, and omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, wise and merciful Father. His will is our law, which teaches us how to live and develop our capabilities. Our goal is to reach and be blessed with eternal life in the kingdom of light and glory. Amen
